WORD!
A 32-Hour Cognoscente Group Endurance Event!
The Cognoscente Group is pleased to announce its 2008 Endurance event....... WORD!

Logistics:

  • WORD! is a Long Distance motorcycle event that is 32 hours in duration. Check-in begins on Friday, May 30, 2008. The competitive riding begins Saturday morning, May 31 and ends Sunday afternoon, June 1st. The start and finish is in Ely, Nevada. There are two mandatory checkpoints, a minimum of 1148 miles, and a minimum number of points to be considered an official finisher. The minimum points value will be provided at the Pre-Event Rider's meeting.
  • The maximum allowable number of WORD! players is limited to 45 riders. Your entry is not official until your entry fee is paid. Once we have 45 paid entrants on the roster, a standby list will be created in chronological order of date/time-stamped registration entries. Entries are first come, first served.
  • The entry fee for WORD! is $185.00 per rider, or $235.00 for couples, payable via PayPal. If you have a mental block against using PayPal, you may use the "Contact Us!" form to make alternate arrangements. Do be aware, however, that Cognoscente Group events tend to fill up extremely fast; 45 riders may have paid up before your alternate arrangements can be made. The refund deadline for cancellation is April 15, 2008, and all refunds will be charged a $50.00 handling/aggravation fee regardless of the reason.
  • The entry fee includes two banquet meals, a premium, highly sought-after Cognoscente Group rally shirt, and various and sundry items. There will be plaques for the top three podium Finishers. Additionally, all official finishers will receive a special Cognoscente Group apparel item that will undoubtedly become a prized keepsake.
  • Unlike BLISTER or White Pine Fever, the format for WORD! is somewhat more along the lines of a traditional endurance rally, with the emphasis on "somewhat". Instead of classic bonus hunting, you will be riding a route you create in order to fulfill specific "criteria", via photographic proof. The criteria will be described in brutal detail at the Rider's Meeting immediately following the Pre-Event Banquet on Friday evening, May 30th.
  • Typical IBA/MERA rules are in effect. Maximum fuel capacity is 11.5 gallons. Fuel logs will be required of all riders. Cameras are required; digital cameras are allowed (it is your responsibility to ensure the ScoreKeeper can access/copy your digi-pics to his system, typically via USB Flash drive). GPS and laptops are allowed. Riders may plot routes and ride together, if desired.
  • Hotel discount information will be sent to you upon receipt of your entry fee. Further amplifying information will be provided in your Rally Pack that will be sent to you in late February.
